Stocks close mixed on Apple earnings and unemployment data

Closing out the day… Stocks closed higher on Friday after a number of better than expected earnings reports helped boost stocks across the board. Procter & Gamble (PG) delivered better than expected numbers and raised its full year guidance while Halliburton (HAL) beat on the top and bottom line after expanding its international operations.

Among the high-volume stocks today Bank of America (BAC), Microsoft (MSFT) and Facebook (FB) booked gains while Nokia (NOK), Ford (F) and Apple (AAPL) all moved lower. The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index closed the day at 12.94 after opening at 12.63. The Put/Call Volume Ratio is at 0.73 while the Put/Call Open Interest ratio is also at 0.89.
