Stock close higher; S&P 500 has first winning Monday of 2013

Closing out the day… Stocks closed with modest gains Monday with the Dow closing withing 50 points of its all-time high. Monday was the first positive start to a week for the S&P 500 for 2013.

Among the high-volume stocks today Google (GOOG), Bank of America (BAC) and Amazon.com (AMZN) booked gains while Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX) and Exxon Mobile (XOM) all moved lower. The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index closed the day at 14.05 after opening at 15.36. The Put/Call Volume Ratio is at 0.98 while the Put/Call Open Interest ratio is at 0.94.
