Stocks end mixed as tech sector weighs

Closing out the day… Stocks closed mostly lower Tuesday. Technology stocks weighed on the broader market with Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOG) helping to contribute to the decline.

Among the high-volume stocks today Merck (MRK), Amazon.com (AMZN) and Valero (VLO) booked gains while Citigroup (C), Bank of America (BAC) and Research in Motion (BBRY) all moved lower. The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index closed the day at 12.28 after opening at 11.79. The Put/Call Volume Ratio is at 0.77 while the Put/Call Open Interest ratio is at 0.94.
