Global markets move higher

U.S. stocks are little moved early as markets around the world move up. The S&P 500 is down 0.05%, while the Dow is up 0.03%.

Asian stocks finished higher Wednesday with a weaker yen lifting Japanese export stocks. The Shanghai was up 0.71% and the Nikkei was up 0.74%.

In Europe, markets are higher as bank shares rise. The FTSE is up 1.34%, and the DAX is up 1.50%.

Energy futures are mixed. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down $0.34 to $50.59 per barrel, while natural gas is up $0.08 to $3.72. Metals prices are higher this morning. Gold is up $5.00 to $1,175.10 per ounce and platinum is up $1.30 to $937.00. The Dollar is down versus the Euro and up against the Yen.

Dave & Buster’s Entertainment, Inc. (PLAY),Stein Mart, Inc. (SMRT),and Southwestern Energy Company   (SWN) are early risers, while Sigma Designs, Inc. (SIGM),Ladder Capital Corp (LADR),and Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (HMY) are down. [InvestorsKeyhole, various news and data sources]
