Five companies that changed the world

One of the most sure fire ways of becoming a global leader is to be a company that literally changes the world. In the world of business, so many companies set out to simply improve on an existing business model, and while this can be an effective way to succeed, it’s the companies that literally change the world that wind up finding the most success.

It is hard to predict when these sort of changes are happening. It is often not until they have taken effect that we can look back and truly appreciate just how powerful an impact a particular company has had on our everyday lives, and changed the world forever.

Forever is actually a bad word to use, because eventually, somewhere down the road, another company will come along and radically change things and today’s life changing events will be a distant memory. Case in point, try to remember the first time you listened to an audio tape on a Sony Walkman (assuming you are old enough to have ever owned a Walkman). Being able to walk around listening to your favorite music was life changing, but now that technology has been replaced, and at some point in the future today’s technology will be replaced.

The world is constantly changing and evolving, and usually it is technology companies that usher in the biggest life changing inventions. Let’s look at five companies that have radically altered today’s world as we know it.
