Major indices are in the red this Friday morning, though in an unusual departure, the Russell 2000 is rising. Bond yields are rising this morning, reaching 2.375% for the US 10-year Treasury. NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 4.5% after reporting huge gains from its data center business. The recent high-flier The Trade Desk (TTD) is down 18% after reporting third quarter earnings. The bottom line beat the consensus estimate, but The Street didn’t like what it found in the small print.

West Texas Intermediate crude is trading at $57.17. At present, the S&P 500 is down 0.25%, the DJIA is down 0.19%, and the NASDAQ is down 0.19%.

Industries doing well today include leisure products, diversified consumer services, and media. Industries showing weakness include building products, healthcare equipment, and hotels. The VIX is up 6.8% to 11.2 after closing on Thursday at 10.5. The most heavily traded options this morning are for AK Steel (AKS), with 18,943 January-19 5 calls on the board. The total put/call ratio as of 10:00 AM was 1.54 (233,139/358,014). The advancers/decliners ratio for NYSE stocks is 1,537/1,139 while the advancers/decliners ratio for NASDAQ stocks is 1,410/1,356.
