(RTTNews) - Cerner (CERN) ended Wednesday's session sharply higher after the company reported a rise in first-quarter earnings, set its second-quarter guidance and backed its 2008 fiscal year earnings outlook. Shares gapped open higher and continued to rise throughout most of the first half of trading, before drifting with uncertainty for the remainder of the session. The stock broke resistance and surpassed its 50-day moving average. Shares finished at their highest level since late February, up $6.98 at $46.50.
