(RTTNews) - Tuesday, Washington Mutual Inc.
(WM) announced the appointment of John McMurray as chief enterprise risk officer of the company. As the new chief enterprise risk officer, McMurray will supervise the risk management functions of the bank, including credit risk, interest rate risk, market risk, operational risk and audit. McMurray has also been named to the company's Executive Committee.
McMurray, who succeeds Ron Cathcart, will be reporting to Chairman and chief executive officer Kerry Killinger. Earlier, McMurray served as the chief credit officer of Washington Mutual. Prior to joining Washington Mutual in 2007, McMurray had been serving as senior managing director and chief risk officer of Countrywide Financial Corp.
Earlier in his career, McMurray worked with mortgage-related companies such as Freddie Mac and Crestar Mortgage Corp. in various senior leadership positions.
WM is trading at $12.47, down $0.13 or 1.03%, on a volume of 14.14 million.
